​Why it's best to invest in glass milk bottles

If you love milk then you'll probably intuitively know that glass bottles are far better than plastic alternatives. And after all, milk was traditionally delivered in glass bottles for years, and what was better than seeing those cold and dewy bottles on your doorstep first thing in the morning (unless of course, the small garden birds had already had a go at pecking the foil tops to get a taste of the cream top!)

Glass bottles for milk can be used up to 50 times before they are returned to the recycling cycle, and since they are recycled into new glass, the material can be used almost indefinitely. Compare this to the single-use nature of plastic milk bottles, most of which still end up in landfill. If we make small changes by choosing glass, we can create a powerful and beneficial impact for the environment overall.

5. It looks beautiful!

There's no denying the absolutely enduring appeal of glass bottles, and milk bottles look wonderful on your dining table when served with breakfast on a tray. You can also use them to store other items after the milk has gone, or use them to make a batch of kefir or kombucha perhaps if you are experimenting with fermentation and probiotics this autumn. Nothing has more vintage style than a row of pretty glass, so why not make a feature of your milk bottles and line them up on shelves or on your dresser. You could even make them into posy vases or add pretty floral lids made with fabric to store knick-knacks, sweets or cookie mixes for the kids.
