What to know about World Environment Day

World Environment Day falls on Thursday, June 5th this year, and it's such an important event that we wanted to share a little more about its purpose with Wares of Knutsford customers.

As you'll know, the Wares brand is synonymous with environmentally friendly practices. After all, we exist to sell recyclable glass bottles and glass jars as an alternative to the single-use plastics that have dominated the high street for so many years.

But we've taken the eco-friendly message further, by expanding our earth friendly range to include other recyclable products that don't damage the earth and to introduce sustainable business practices everywhere we can across our business. What is World Environment Day?

World Environment Day is the biggest global occasion that aims to build collective awareness of environmental issues. It's held every year on 5th June and led by the UN to bring together millions of people across the world in a collective mission to restore and protect the planet. World Environment Day is also used to hold events, create initiatives, and generally empower businesses, governments, individuals, and communities to come together and deliver sustainable environmental change that will protect the planet for years to come. With climate change and pollution now such pressing problems, this year's World Environment Day is perhaps more important than ever.

The key message behind the event is that even small actions count, and this is something we can really apply in our daily lives, whether that's by switching out single use plastics for glass jars and glass bottles in the kitchen, recycling more, reusing what we already have or simply reducing the amount that we buy. The aim is to share creative and inspiring ideas that get everyone thinking about the ways in which they can be 'greener' and drive major changes by working together.
