Planning the perfect springtime wedding

Posted by The Wares Team on 9th May 2023

The Wares of Knutsford team always loves this time of year - it's spring wedding season! We know that happy couples across the UK are planning their perfect wedding and we love helping our customers to create beautiful, memorable weddings on a budget by making use of sustainable and natural materials.

In spring, we always see a surge in orders for glass bottles, jars, wrapping, decorative items and craft materials to make those all-important wedding favours, table decorations and more. Glass is such a good choice for a crafty wedding for a variety of reasons. Firstly it's naturally eco-friendly, which we know is very important to many of our couples. Secondly, it's beautiful and highly versatile. And thirdly, it's also highly affordable, which is particularly useful when you're managing a wedding budget.

If you're looking for some cheap wedding favours, then you can create something really beautiful and personal for your special day with a few basic materials and a little creativity. Here are some of our favourite ideas - and they are all sustainable, easy to make and designed to make your guests smile on the big day!

DIY flowers

If you're having a spring wedding, then why not source local wildflowers or seasonal blooms without the air miles and display them in beautiful glass bottles and jars? You can also use seasonal foliage to stunning effect. Some couples have even started to plan a season ahead and are growing their own cutting patch flowers to make their own bouquets on the day. What could be more personal? Whichever flowers you choose, you'll find a wonderful range of glassware here: https://www.waresofknutsford.co.uk/wedding-favours/jars-for-flowers-and-candles/

Wedding favour ideas

We sell a wide range of wedding favour boxes and miniature glass bottle options, which all work brilliantly for favours! Here are some of our favourite ideas:

Confetti

Share dried rose petals in wedding favour boxes to toss as confetti. You can add a little rose essential oil to boost the fragrance. Or why not gift colourful popcorn for the kids to throw (or nibble!) Again, it's eco-friendly and fun.

Pick and mix sweets

Host your own pick-and-mix area for the young (and young at heart!). A decorated table with large glass confectionary jars, scoops and miniature wedding favour boxes or striped paper candy bags will keep everyone happy on the big day. What's more, you can choose sweets for wedding favour jars that will suit your guests, filled with homemade peppermint patties, fudge, or even pastel-coloured marshmallows which are perfectly spring-like. Cook's ingredients

If your guests are foodies, why not gift herb oils in miniature glass bottles as an alternative to alcoholic drinks? Or fill a miniature glass jar with flavoured coarse sea salt for a luxury cook's treat. It's easy to steep fresh herbs in good quality olive oil, and likewise, you can add dried herbs, peppercorns and dried chilli and spices to salt to make flavour blends and salt rubs. Add handwritten ingredient labels and present them in a mini wicker basket or box for a beautiful thank-you gift that your guests will love.

Sweet treats

If your wedding has a vintage or country theme, why not approach a local beekeeper to see if you could offer local honey to your guests? You could pour delicious local honey into mini glass jars, add a pretty ribbon and a label, and maybe include some information about local bees and the need for their protection. Why not combine this thoughtful favour with a personalised packet of wildflower seeds to encourage the bees for next year's honey harvest? A macaron centrepiece

Wide-brimmed glass jars are also perfect for gifting or sharing delicious, colourful macarons. You can buy these or try to make your own, and they can be coloured according to your colour theme. It's easy to choose pastel shades that will match a spring wedding and no guest can resist these light and delicious treats which are also very on-trend for weddings in 2023. They combine egg whites, sugar and ground almonds and the trick to success is to follow a precise recipe.
