It's wedding time again after two years of pandemic

Posted by The Wares Team on 27th Jan 2022

How wonderful to know that brides can start planning their wedding again after two years of uncertainty during the pandemic. At Wares of Knutsford we are well prepared for our customers who are busy planning their wedding and looking to create their own special wedding favours for the occasion.

When you design and make a wedding favour you get to enjoy creative freedom plus you can personalise your gifts so that they are more meaningful to your guests. You can also closely tie them into your wedding design scheme and can help to keep your budget under control.

By choosing natural materials too, such as glass bottles and jars with card and raffia, you can minimise the use of single-use plastic and waste, and focus on materials which can be recycled or simply enjoyed time and time again.

So let's take a look at some of our favourite wedding favour ideas to get those creative ideas flowing!

1. Limoncello glass bottles

This fun and holiday-themed spirit will be a favourite with your guests before they hit the dance floor. Buy miniature glass bottles and design your own stickers before whizzing up your own batch of lemon-flavoured liquor with vodka, fresh lemons and sugar. There's an easy recipe from the BBC here: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/limoncello

2. Apple butter jars

If you're planning ahead for a wedding in autumn, why not take inspiration from our American cousins and treat your guests to a miniature jar of apple butter? It couldn't be easier to make as you simply simmer cooking apples for a long period of time at a very low temperature with the addition of spices and other basic ingredients to create a wonderfully sweet and flavoursome spread for toast or treats. Its budget friendly too! See a recipe here and stock up on those mini clip jars: https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/apple_butter/

3. BBQ rubs or flavoured salts

These are a lovely gift for cooks and really easy to make by combining natural rock salt or Himalayan pink salt with spices. Simply fill glass bottles or jars with your enticing combination, add a customised sticker with instructions for use and a pretty ribbon or tag and you're good to go! These kinds of wedding favours are so fast and easy, but they have all of the impact that a more complex wedding favour would have too. 4. Hot chocolate favour

This would be wonderful for a wedding in the colder months! Stock up on screw-top glass or bottles with a drinking handle, such as a customisable Mason jar, and fill it with drinking chocolate mix and layers of chocolate chips and marshmallows for the ultimate in ready-to-make indulgent drinks! These wedding favours would also be a lot of fun for children, and you could add a ribbon and wooden spoon for dipping the finished results!

5. Potted succulents

Succulents have been on-trend for a while, and they are wonderfully resilient little houseplants that require very little care to thrive! They are also perfect for a wedding favour - simply buy succulents in bulk and fill mini glass planters or jars with a mix of houseplant compost and gardeners grit before gently planting your little succulent. Add a personalised tag and a ribbon and this beautiful, eco-friendly and thoughtful favour will stand out for the right reasons!

6. Seed envelopes and bombs

Wildflowers are all the rage, so a very eco-friendly and cute idea for a wedding favour would be to create your own customised seed bombs or to fill small brown envelopes with a wildflower blend and personise the packaging with your own thank you message.

7. Jars of sweets

Who can resist a cute-as-a-button glass jar filled with tiny colourful sweets? Make them fun with ribbons and hand-written tags and these will look absolutely beautiful at your place settings - and delight kids in attendance too!

8. Coffee jars

Perfect for the morning after, buy quality beans or source a local coffee bean processor and buy a small batch of finest artisan coffee. Use it to fill mini glass jars so it's ready for a big cup of the good stuff the morning after your wedding. Perfect for any sore heads!
