British farmers are diversifying: here's how and why

Posted by The Wares Team on 27th Apr 2021

The agricultural industry is diversifying rapidly, and British farmers are looking for new ways to meet changing customer demands whilst continuing to protect the environment and their vital role in the country's eco and food system.

How British farmers are diversifying

One key example is the production of raw milk. It is legal to sell raw milk in England, but only directly to the customer via a delivery service, directly from the farm, or via a farm shop for example. No intermediary retailers are allowed, by law, to sell raw milk.

Customer demand for this intensely rich and nutritious unpasteurised product is growing and farmers are making use of changing delivery models to sell raw milk directly to customers and to enjoy the higher margins available on these speciality products. Some farmers are investing in door to door delivery services, others are opening up farm shops and some are selling directly at farmers' markets. Others still are using vending machines at their farms or at key consumer spots to sell their produce directly and to benefit from retail margins without the cost of various intermediaries.

Other farmers are opening farm shops, or running wedding venues. Farm shops have always been popular in rural areas, but now they are also gaining recognition in more urban areas, particularly as health-conscious, more affluent consumers look to invest in the wellness trend and buy organic, locally farmed produce. This trend offers fantastic opportunities for small and niche farm producers looking to specialise in areas such as natural beauty, organic food boxes or rare breeds as well as for larger and more established farms looking for new business ventures.

At Wares of Knutsford, we are working with more and more new ventures all across the country, especially in the UK's finest farming counties, where the resurgence of agriculture is proving to be a particularly exciting time. It's wonderful to see Britain's farms and agricultural businesses thriving and diversifying again after such a long and challenging period, which was made all the harder last year by Covid.

And with that in mind, we are stocking up on the products that business customers want the most - wholesale bottles and glasses that they can use to directly store products or to customise for favours and decorations in their businesses. Some of our customers are looking for large glass bottles to sell raw milk in, and others are looking for smaller jars to sell real lavender bath products made from their own fields, or to make pretty table decorations or wedding favours at the venues they are hiring out for weddings, parties and other special occasions now that the pandemic is finally coming to an end.

Our new glass milk bottle range

As a result of these industry developments, we have seen a huge increase in demand for our ever-popular glass milk bottles. We sell retail and wholesale glass jars alike to enable customers to benefit from the best possible prices and lowest unit prices. We also work hard to ensure that our wholesale glass bottles are excellent value for money and of high quality, with delivery rates as low as £5.95 an order.

Benefit from our range of wholesale glass bottles and jars

Whether you are an agricultural business branching out into weddings, a farm shop, raw milk, beauty product development or another field, we are pleased to stock wholesale glass jars and wholesale glass bottles, with a hugely extended range of products now listed on the website, and with packs available from 6 or 12 unit sizes, or up to the 1000's for our bulk pallet orders. Our delivery rates are extremely competitive and we carefully pack everything so that it arrives perfectly at your home or business.

Can't find what you're looking for?

We constantly update our website with new products and we recently announced that we are working hard to reduce the prices across many of our glass bottles and jars so that we can continue to offer our customers the best possible deals. This has been made possible by a strategic move into bigger premises with far bigger warehousing facilities - meaning that we can buy in bulk and in far greater volumes and pass the savings on!

But one thing that will never change is our commitment to customer service. If you can't find what you are looking for, please contact our helpful and experienced team who will be happy to assist. Whether you need product advice, inspiration or help finding the right glass bottles, jars or other items for your business or home, we are here to help!

Call or email us and our team will get back to you as soon as possible, from Monday to Friday, 9-5pm. We look forward to welcoming our customers at Wares of Knutsford both online and in-store.
